How Sweet It Is...

As this is being written, our company founder David Kerdoon is beginning his flight across the Atlantic, to arrive in Germany for the 4-day ISM Confectionery trade show. Held in Cologne from Sunday, February 1st through Wednesday the 4th, this international sweets fair is the largest of its kind.
This annual show is expected to host about 40,000 retailers, exhibitors, and confectionery industry professionals from over 150 countries. Just as with the Fancy Food Show here in the USA, admission to ISM is limited to key buyers, wholesalers, and retailers in the confectionery industry.

Although individual consumers cannot attend the show, the new & innovative sweet snack products featured at ISM will make their way onto store shelves worldwide in the months to come. If you'd like to satisfy your sweet tooth a little sooner, check out SEN CHA's Green Tea Mints & Bars for a gourmet indulgence that's sure to leave you satisfied!

Fancy Food Round-up

As mentioned in this previous post, last weekend a few of us from Sencha Naturals headed up to the San Francisco Fancy Food Show.

After assembling our bamboo floor pieces, hanging our freshly-printed banners, and setting up the custom-made lime green display cases that we designed as a company, it was time to show off our products!

In addition to our three primary varieties of Original, Delicate Pear & Lively Lemongrass, we introduced our newest flavor of Green Tea Mints & Bars: Morning Lychee.
Pictured above: Lauren Ewing offers new Morning Lychee Mints at the Sencha Naturals booth. To the far right, Desiree Thomas enlightens mouths with samples of Green Tea Bars & Mints in various flavors.

If you missed us at Fancy Food, you still have a chance to check us out in early May at the World Tea Expo in Las Vegas! Hope to see you at Mandalay Bay!

New Year, New Leader...Now What?

A new year has begun, resolutions have been made, and a new president has been sworn in. So now what?

As we begin our final year in this first decade of the 21st century, it seems like we can do little more than cross our fingers & hope for the best. While it is certainly exciting to see President Barack Obama take office, we must remain realistic. Although he is a proponent of change, in order to not be disappointed we must realize that our current socioeconomic struggles will not be reversed overnight.

The dwindling economy will not be fixed by tomorrow morning. The home loan scandal is still leaving numerous Americans stranded. The health care system will continue to withhold coverage from thousands who desperately need it. As idealistic as many Americans would like to be, the truth remains that one man simply cannot immediately mend all that ails us.

Nevertheless, it would be socially irresponsible for any one of us to lose hope. Improvement may not happen today, this year, or even within this presidential term, but it's bound to happen.

After all, the only constant in life...is change.

Sencha Naturals does not condone any particular political view. We do, however, believe in progress, social responsibility, and treating each other with kindness. For more information about our company beliefs, please visit SenchaNaturals.com

An American King

Every time a national holiday rolls around, how many people actually take a moment to reflect on the reason for the commemoration? No matter how busy today may be for you, it's quite easy (and highly recommended) to take a few minutes to honor the late Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Regardless of race or socioeconomic status, many of us take for granted our civil liberties & the current state of [relative] social acceptance.
Although brought to a tragically early end, Dr. King's life was dedicated to spreading peace, true equality, and promoting judgment based upon character rather than superficial/external factors.

It is impossible to know the extent of civil rights achievements that Dr. King would have continued to bring about, had he been given the opportunity to promote his pacifist beliefs. Nevertheless, we are fortunate to have recorded films depicting Dr. King's powerful orations.

Stick to Your Resolutions With Green Tea

If you're one of the millions of Americans who made a resolution this year, it likely has something to do with health. And if that's the case, then green tea is your friend! Here's why. If you've decided to:

*Stop Smoking: Many people are afraid to give up smoking for fear of gaining weight. To compensate for the decrease in metabolism that comes when one gives up smoking, drinking a few cups of green tea per day can boost the metabolic rate right back up. The habit of consistently sipping on tea will also keep your mouth busy & prevent you from reaching for that cigarette.

*Lose Weight: Numerous medical studies have found a correlation between consumption of green tea & weight loss. Not only does it hydrate you & provide a feeling of fullness, but green tea has certain properties that boost metabolism & increase your body's fat burning mechanisms.

*Get Fit: After lifting weights at the gym, your body is susceptible to damage from harmful substances called free radicals. Green tea has been shown to protect against these destructive molecules, so your body can focus on building muscle rather than fighting invaders.

*Have More Energy: Green tea naturally raises the body's metabolism, providing you with an extra spring in your step. It also does this without increasing heart rate, which could be harmful. Additionally, its natural caffeine content helps promote mental clarity & reduces physical fatigue, and it only contains about 25% of caffeine compared to coffee. Health benefits without the jitters!

*Spend More Time With Friends/Family: Alright, so green tea won't magically add more hours to your day, but steeping a potful will require a bit of time to pause from your work & rejuvenate yourself with a quick conversation. Take those few minutes to chat with your coworkers about their weekend, respond to that personal e-mail that's been awaiting your attention, or call an old friend just to say hello.
